What is IDY-LiFE?

Integrative Dynamic Yoga-Lifestyle and Fitness Education, or IDY-LiFEis a comprehensive in-home yoga and fitness educational program. IDY-LiFE™ has been designed for those suffering from chronic pain, facing health issues associated with limited exercise and poor dietary habits, challenged with degenerative diseases or disorders, feeling the effects of getting older, or simply for those wanting to take charge of their health and well-being. IDY-LiFE™ reduces stress, minimizes chronic pain, assists in the recovery from injury, alleviates the symptoms of disease, and facilitates healthy lifestyle choices.

IDY-LiFE™ blends functional movement, cardiovascular conditioning, and Integrative Dynamic Yoga-IDY™ to increase strength, stability, stamina, endurance, balance, flexibility, and full range of motion.

Functional Movement activities include the use of hand weights, resistance bands and tubing, and body-weight bearing exercises. Cardiovascular conditioning includes low-impact aerobic exercise such as walking, biking, jogging, or Step aerobic and BOSU equipment, depending on an individual's needs and health condition and requirements.

IDY-LiFE™ also teaches the foundational principles of IDY-Integrative Dynamic Yoga. IDY™ is a systematic method to enhance and “re”-integrate mind/body consciousness.  IDY expounds Seven Principles of Synergy that are a fusion of traditional yoga principles, contemporary mindfulness philosophical practices, and the fundamental principles of exercise science, fitness, and functional conditioning. IDY works to establish optimal health, fitness, personal well-being, and self-awareness.

Participants also learn how to apply awareness and alignment principles to daily lifestyle choices and living activities .

IDY-LiFE™ establishes optimal health, fitness, and personal well-being. Awareness is critical and knowledge is the key to a healthy lifestyle and lifelong practice of living well.

IDY-LiFE Program Overview

IDY-LiFE™ is an in-home yoga and fitness program, which means you meet with Kamie in your home. This is a 12-week program that meets three times per week for a total of 36 sessions. Each session lasts 1.25 to 1.5 hours and consists of functional movement and cardiovascular conditioning, and an IDY-Integrative Dynamic Yoga™ practice that is custom tailored to individual needs.

The IDY-LiFE™ program includes six phases:

  1. Foundation
  2. Function
  3. Conditioning
  4. Transformation
  5. Integration
  6. Implementation

IDY-LiFE™ facilitates a lifelong practice of healthy lifestyle choices and fitness practices. Follow-up supplementary consultation sessions are encouraged every three to six months to update your exercise and fitness program, address issues and questions, reassess your goals, and inspire motivation.

IDY-LiFE: Lifestyle and Fitness Education

1. Foundation: Weeks 1-2, Sessions 1-6

During the Foundation phase, focus is placed on proper alignment principles during exercise with particular emphasis placed on correct form, movement, and posture. We start the program with simple weight exercise routines. The yoga sessions focus on breathing techniques and posture alignment principles. During these sessions we begin the discussion of proper nutrition and examine our dietary and eating habits. We also discuss mind/body awareness and meditation practices to minimize stress and cultivate healthy lifestyle choices.

2. Function: Weeks 3-4, Sessions 7-12

The Function phase of IDY-LiFE™ expands the resistance and strength training routines and cardiovascular conditioning activities. During these sessions we alternate our focus between the lower body and upper body, and finish each session with a full-spectrum beginning level yoga practice. We also begin to apply alignment principles and awareness practices to daily living activities and lifestyle choices. During these weeks we begin to alter our dietary and eating habits, creating an 8-week menu plan that is personalized to your food preferences.

3. Conditioning: Weeks 5-6, Sessions 13-18

Now that we have established a solid foundation for the program, we take it up a notch and combine our lower and upper body strength and resistance training routines to further enhance muscular function and conditioning. During the Conditioning phase we increase the weight and vary our cardiovascular activities and yoga routine to build strength, stability, endurance, flexibility, and full range of motion.

4. Transformation: Weeks 7-8, Sessions 19-24

Halfway through the program we will review your progress and reassess your goals. At this point you will probably have noticed physical changes to your body in addition to mental and emotional changes. During the Transformation phase we alter the routine so that your workout doesn't plateau. At this point, your life may be more balanced; however, we want your fitness routine to vary. Life needs balance, but the body needs change.

5 . Transition: Weeks 9-10, Sessions 25-30

The Foundation, Function, Conditioning, and Transformation phases introduced the various resistance and strength training routines, cardiovascular conditioning activities, and yoga principles that you will continue to use after you finish the IDY-LiFE™ program. The Integration phase reviews the skills and tools acquired during the previous weeks to ensure a complete understanding for correct application and implementation.

6. Integration: Weeks 11-12, Sessions 31-36

During the final six sessions we design a personalized IDY-LiFE™ program for you to implement on your own. With the knowledge acquired, you will feel confident conducting your own resistance and strength training and cardiovascular program and continuing your yoga practice. We also discuss changes to your diet and how to alter your menu and calorie intake based on your weekly activities. The Integration phase solidifies the fusion of knowledge and awareness; ensuring long lasting lifestyle changes for a lifetime of health, fitness, and personal well-being.

IDY-LiFE Program Costs

This is a 12-week, 36-session, program. Clients may purchase 4-week, 12-session bundles. Discounts are provided for 2 or more people. Clients will be responsible for purchasing their own equipment so that they will be inspired to continue with their personalized fitness regimen after the program. A FREE 1-hour consultation is scheduled at the start of the program to conduct a personal posture, flexibility, and balance assessment and discuss the program and equipment needs.
