IDY - Integrative Dynamic Yoga(TM)

IDY-Integrative Dynamic Yoga(TM) is a systematic method that provides a means to enhance and "reintegrate" mind/body consciousness. IDY expounds Seven Principles of Synergy that are a fusion of traditional yoga practices and the fundamental principles of exercise science, fitness, and functional movement. IDY is a means to optimal health, fitness, personal well-being, and self and spiritual awareness.
IDY is based upon creator, Kamie's experience and knowledge in yoga, physical and functional conditioning, bodywork, biomechanics, somatics, fitness, group exercise, personal training, and other contemporary health and fitness modalities. IDY expounds the Seven Principles of Synergy - a systematic method for the application of yoga principles and practices that can be incorporated into and serve as the foundation for any yoga tradition.
Integrative Dynamic Yoga is:
- Integrative - IDY combines diverse elements into a whole.
- Dynamic - IDY is an interactive process relating to energy in motion.
- Yoga - IDY is a means to unify mind/body consciousness with self-awareness and self-expression. From this place of connection, we live, experience, express, and celebrate the gift of life moment-by-moment.
Seven Principles of Synergy(TM):
The IDY-Integrative Dynamic Yoga(TM) method is based on Seven Principles of Synergy(TM) to "re-integrate" the mind/body. The Seven Principles of Synergy(TM) are:
- Recognition - The acknowledgement, acceptance, and embracing the connectedness of ALL things. Whatever you want to call IT, be it Universal Consciousness, Grace, Spirit, Energy, God, Everything or Nothing...IT IS and YOU ARE part of it.
- Dynamic Movement and Sequencing - Integrated movement and sequencing for increasing strength, stability, endurance, agility, balance, range of motion, and flexibility to enhance physical and functional movement and Mind/Body-Centered Awareness.
- Integrative Principles of Alignment - Foundation, Dynamic Muscular Activation and Integration, and Dynamic Extension and Expansion create Balanced Energetic Action and Mind/Body-Centered Awareness within the body.
- Balanced Energetic Action - The facilitation of energy and breath to optimize energetic forces and currents that sustain the body, a key component in Mind/Body-Centered Awareness and function of the body.
- Mind/Body-Centered Awareness - the mindful awareness of the experiential mind/body as applied and experienced through Integrative Principles of Alignment, Dynamic Movement and Sequencing, Balanced Energetic Action and the conscious application of Recognition, Realization, and Expression.
- Self-Realization - (or Self-Awareness) Free-will as applied and experienced through consciously choosing one's Attitude and Intention; the ability to consciously choose and shift one's perspective and intention in Self-Expression.
- Self-Expression - From a place of Self-Realization, Self-Expression is the conscious Action of simultaneously engaging, experiencing, and expressing one's "Self" in the world. Self-Expression is the outward demonstration of who and how you are moment-by-moment.
Yoga Philosophy and The Five Koshas - IDY-Integrative Dynamic Yoga is inspired by the traditions of Integrative Yoga Therapy and Tantra and Anusara Yoga. Building on this foundation, IDY uses the Five Kosha Model as the framework for integrating the Seven Principles of Synergy(TM). The Five Koshas are:
- Annamaya Kosha - Physical Body: the systems of the physical body, the five elements, and the three doshas.
- Integrative Principles of Alignment
- Dynamic Movement and Sequencing
- Pranamaya Kosha - Body of Energy: includes breath, the pranavayus, the nadis or energy channels of the body, and the chakras.
- Manomaya Kosha - Body of Mind and Emotions: the autonomic nervous system and the brain as well as stimulus-response behavior, emotions and repetitive thought patterns, which manifest in our body and are reflected in our thoughts and actions.
- Mind/Body-Centered Awareness
- Vijnyanamaya Kosha - Body of Wisdom & Intuition: the higher mind and the sense of discrimination which allows us to move beyond our conditioned responses and core beliefs. It is the bridge between unconscious and consciousness.
- Self-Realization (Self-Awareness)
- Anandamaya Kosha - Body of Bliss: connection to our highest potential and our deepest source. It is a culmination of healing, affirming life, and optimal health, wellness, fitness and spiritual awareness.
It is a conscious expression of who and how we are moment-by-moment!
- Self-Expression
- Recognition
